Description
So, you want to buy a Japanese knife? You'd like a little more info on the different types available and how they differ? Or guidance on what might best suit your lifestyle and what you like to cook? We've got you covered in a 60 minute session to take place at our Soho store (12 Ingestre Place, W1F 0JF) with Tom, or our Borough Yards store (Unit 214 Borough Yards, 20 Dirty Lane, SE1 9PA) with Jun.
The session will cover the different knife shapes, and how they are used and constructed. We will talk you through the differences between Santokus and Gyutos, the pros and cons to different steels, and the practicalities of different blade finishes. It will include demonstrations followed by hands-on sessions to allow you to hold and handle a range of knives. We will also cover how to look after your new knives on a daily basis.
We like it to be as hands on as possible, and will have a range of knives for you to handle alongside some things to cut (you know it's gonna be the trusty onion-tomato combo). It will not be possible for you to try every knife on the wall, nor is it a full lesson in knife skills, but we will have a range in rotation to allow you to understand the range of different knives available.
The £100 fee is fully redeemable against any purchase made on the day. Participants must be of 18 years of age, or be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
