KUROSAKI FORGING DEMO - COAL DROPS YARD

11 & 12 OCTOBER | 17.30 - 20.30

We are thrilled to have master bladesmith Yu Kurosaki visiting us from Japan to showcase his hand-forged blades and take place in a unique UK-Japan forging collaboration. On Friday 11 October, Kurosaki-san will be in-store at Kitchen Provisions between 3pm and 8pm demonstrating sharpening techniques with a wide range of his knives on display. He will be assisted by the Kitchen Provisions team who will also be advising on the properties of hand-forged Japanese knives, knife care and sharpening techniques.  This is intended as a drop-in event for anyone interested in knives or knife sharpening and Kitchen Provisions will be providing refreshments.

On Saturday 12 October between 11 and 5, Kurosaki-san will be taking part in a forging event in the main Coal Drops Yard area. He will be working alongside Andrew Lindsay from Two Sticks Forge and the team from Blenheim Forge to hand forge knives. This is intended to demonstrate some of the many techniques that go in to knife making as well creating unique blades that incorporate historic metals from the wider Kings Cross site. We want people to have a greater understanding of the processes and skills that go into knife making and will be on hand to answer any questions.
