Whipping up a batch of crispy tempura or bread-crumbing some juicy tonkatsu? Well this stand is essential to display your creation.
"I initially thought this was maybe a 'nice-to-have' and possibly superfluous to requirements, how wrong I was. When you are served fried foods like tempura or tonkatsu in restaurants, it often sits on these little rests. When I made tonkatsu at home - yes it was pretty hard and took a bloody long time - crispiness was my main concern. I even bought some panko breadcrumbs for extra crunch. Yet, when the cutlets were removed from the pan and served directly on the plate, the bases quickly became soggy. If you use these rests the air can circulate under the cutlet or tempura leaving you with a nice crispy bottom. Suits you sir."
